Annotation
The project is focused on development of methods of geomorphometry on the basis of geometrical aspect of the field theory and physical fields reflected in the land surface. Development of methods of land surface segmentation on the basis of physical interpretation of geomorphometric variables, fuzzy nature and scale dependence of landforms is a goal of the project. We will target the elementary forms and morphostructural units delimitation using object based image analysis (OBIA). Highly precise digital elevation model (DEM) – LIDAR data will be an empiric base in the first case. Global DEMs (SRTM, ASTER and so on) will be used in the second case. We will test an efficiency of developed procedures in case studies focused on the relationships land surface – soils (influence of elementary forms on soil properties and erosion), land surface – land cover (changes of dependence of the land cover on geomorphometric variables in various types of morphostructural units) and in the analysis of paleosurfaces and results of long term modelling of development of landscape (interpretation of results of CHILD model, geomorphic interpretation of geochronological data and mass balance modelling).

Project objectives
Development of methods of the land surface segmentation (elementary forms and morphostructural units delineation) based on the physical interpretation of geomorphometric variables considering a scale dependence of landforms and fuzziness of theirs character and limitation. To show a signification of the methods in the following applications:
– Relationships of the land surface and basic soil properties,
– Relationships of the land surface and soil erosion,
– Relationships of the land surface and land cover changes,
– Long-term development of landforms and mass balance analysis.
