Mgr. Zuzana Pilková, PhD.

Area of research

She currently focuses on organic (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) and inorganic (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Sb, Zn and others) urban contaminants resulting from road transport in terms of distribution, resource determination and mobility in urban soils of various uses. Specifically, she focuses on soils near roads in Bratislava, but also on community gardens in Bratislava. Community garden research focuses on the occurrence of potentially toxic metals and metalloids, their penetration into the edible parts of leafy, fruiting and root vegetables, and the associated potential health risks from eating vegetables grown in urban environments. In terms of determining sources of contamination using multivariate statistical methods, he specializes in the application of the positive matrix factorisation factor model. Currently, she is working mainly on the project VEGA no. 1/0246/23 focusing on risk elements in soils and vegetables of private gardens in Bratislava.
