Ing. Marcela Tlčíková
Area of research
Currently, she focuses on innovative methods of degradation of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) from bottom sediments of the historically contaminated site of Chemko Strážske. She deals with the preparation and characterization of iron bionanoparticles from plant substrates and also from waste residues from food production – thus supporting the circular economy of reuse of waste materials. From polluted sediment or soil, she isolates adapted bacterial strains capable of degrading a particular contaminant, which is subsequently applied in the sequential approach of nanobiodegradation.
