About Us

The Language Department at the Faculty of Natural Sciences offers students both daily and external studies with the possibility for further improvement in foreign languages at the bachelor‘s, master‘s and Ph.D. levels.

In addition to two required semesters of a specialised foreign language (English and German at the B1/B2 level according to the European reference framework), students have the possibility to complete:

 At the bachelor’s level, an elective course from English/German.

 At the master’s level, an elective course from English/German.

Students at our faculty have the possibility as well to attend a preparation course in order to receive the internationally recognised university-level UNIcert certificate and they can also pass an examination upon successful completion of the course.

 The Language Department at The Faculty of Natural Sciences of Comenius University in Bratislava has also obtained accreditation in the study of two language programs: Professional English and German for students of natural sciences at the B2 a C1 levels (UNIcert® II, III). The department was given accreditation by the Institute for Accreditation of language programs and examinations at universities in Central Europe (UNIcert® LUCE).

 Nearly 300 students at our faculty received this certificate during the examination period of 2014/2015 from both English and German.

 The Language Department also offers a classic course in Latin which is also possible to study on an optional basis.

 ·      Students regularly participate in study stays and internships at foreign universities (e.g. in Portugal, at Freie Universität Berlin and other places) as well as in mobilities (e.g. Erasmus +).

 ·      The Language Department also offers the possibilty for self-study and circulation work of foreign literature, magazines, films and so on in the department’s library.

 ·      Every academic year, on a regular basis, volunteers from abroad assist us from the volunteer organisation.
