About the Department

Scientific orientation

Research activities of the Department specialise in problems of all individual analytical disciplines of physical geography, physical-geographical synthesis, geoecology and theoretical-methodological problems of geography.

Recent research activity of the Department is focused on:
  • Morphotectonic development of the Western Carpathians
  • Paleoecological analyses of Holocene landscape evolution
  • Geomorphometric analyses – first of all development of methods of land surface segmentation
  • Selected aspects of recent climate change
  • Runoff geomorphic processes
  • Geoecological analyses for precision farming
  • Land Cover structure and changes analyses
